Latest news from the stable

Happy New Year - Update

Thanks everyone for your patience as we plan and execute the big move . By the end of next week, the stable will be located at our new property which is 97 Lupton Rd, Beaudesert (right next door to the Beaudesert racecourse). The new property covers 36 acres and features an 8 horse walker, 19 stables, 14 day yards, a 25 metre circumference sand roller and a 650 metre training track. Regardless of whether the horses are spelling, pre-training, in training or racing, they will all benefit from coming under a single consistent management regime. These are exciting times indeed for the stable.

In other news, stable newcomer Bellantina recently arrived from Melbourne when she was towards the end of her preparation. Regardless she went very well in her only start for the stable so far, finishing a close second, before then heading to the paddock for a well-earned rest.

There have been quite a few newcomers of late, including Emjay Hussey who made a solid stable debut when first up for over a year at Eagle Farm last week. He finished within a few lengths of the winner over 1000 and will next go to a 1200 metre race in the coming fortnight. Another newcomer, Twoeezy also ran a great race first up for the stable when fourth of 13 starters over an unsuitable 1300 metre journey at the Sunshine Coast. His next assignment will be 1666 metre race this coming Saturday at Ipswich, but barriers etc. had not been finalised at the time of writing (so watch the Facebook page for more details).

Another newcomer is Terms, who is racing either tomorrow at Murwillumbah (most likely) or failing that, on Friday night at the Sunshine Coast. Terms is Race 3, Number 3 in a 1200 metre maiden at Murwillumbah where he will be ridden by Tegan Harrison from gate 5.

Also racing at Murwillumbah tomorrow is Platinum Touch who will go around in a 2000 metre BM55 (details are race 7, number 4, Tegan Harrison, probably barrier 10). His form has been a bit up and down but the stable is hopeful of a good showing tomorrow.

Dana Prince is back in work and trialled recently. That trial uncovered some issues which will means he will trial next with a tongue tie before heading to the races within a fortnight.

In more general news, newcomer La Comtesse joined training recently and is up to trot and canter at this stage, whilst a new Freeze 2yo filly is currently being broken in. And finally, Koitaki is also back in work now and should trial within the next few weeks.

As its fully up to date now, you can check the website for details of whether your horse is in work or in the paddock and as always, if you have any questions, call Tony on 0405 058499.

On The Move

The stable is pleased to announce that we are on the move to a much larger training and spelling property in Beaudesert. As many will know, Deagon is being wound up as a training facility and this has provided the impetus to move to the new property which is adjacent to the Beaudesert race track. In time, we envisage that new property will house horses at all stages of their preparation including those being broken in and educated, in pre-training, in full training and spelling. The benefits of having all of the horses in one place at all times are obvious from a continuity perspective. Stay tuned, but at this stage, the move should happen late Novemeber or early December

In other news, we have had some hard luck in recent weeks. Stable favourite I'm A Smarty Pants ran an uncharasticly bad race last week at the Sunshine Coast and was later found to have an issue behind. She has gone to the paddock and will be assessed from there.

On top of that, Platinum Touch was pulled out of the race on Saturday at Gatton after incurring a slipped saddle early on and everything that could go wrong, did for Norse Horse on the same day (best to forget he even went around).

In better news, Lucky Sound had his first barrier trial today at Deagon and won well. Twoeezy also trialled well today finishing third. Both horses will trial again before heading to the races in the coming weeks.

In racing news, Seriously Ready looks like gaining a start tomorrow in a Class 3 2020 race at Doomben. He is number 14 in race 4 and will be ridden from gate 1 by Larry Cassidy. Also look out for Sir Slipper to contest a mile race on Sunday at the Sunny Coast and for Platinum Touch to stretch out to a mile event sometime in the next fortnight.

In closing, El Retazo, Dana Prince, the Nothing To Lose Gelding and Power Boss are all back in work whilst Rob The Vault is now spelling after showing some improvement towards the end of this preparation gone.

Enough Rain Already!

After more rain interruptions, we will be loading back up with runners at the races in the near future .

Last time out Seriously Ready struck all sorts of trouble before running down the track at Ipswich on a slow track. He sprung a plate on the way to the barrier that day and it wasn’t reset properly. On top of that, he was pricked on the hoof which subsequently required some attention. But he is back at the races again this Friday and with any sort of luck we are hoping to see a return to his earlier form. He is nominated for a 1666 metre Class 1 at Ipswich on Friday with Larry Cassidy to ride.

Norse Horse has entered the stable and is really progressing well. He trialled earlier today at Doomben and wasn’t asked to do much. The hit out will bring him forward and we will assess his next move in the wash up.

I’m A Smarty Pants is dual nominated this week for her return to the racetrack. She is 3rd emergency on Wednesday at Eagle Farm in a 1300 metre Class 3 but more likely she will be heading to Toowoomba night races on the Cushion Track on Saturday over 1200 metres. We can certainly report however that she has come back nicely.

Twoeezy is another staying type who recently entered the stable and although he is not likely to head to the races in the very near future, he is coming along nicely.

Sir Slipper is also heading to Ipswich on Friday to contest a 1350 metre maiden and will have the services of Larry Cassidy. Also entered for Ipswich on Friday in a 1350 metre maiden is Rob The Vault – fingers crossed that she gets a run.

Platinum Touch had a lovely grass jump out last Tuesday and he is scheduled to head to the Gold Coast on Saturday where he will contest a 1300 metre race with Tegan Harrison to ride.

Lucky Sound, Power Boss and Koitaki have all returned to work and are coming along well at this early stage while Bon Marche has been recently retired. Also spelling is the Nothing To Lose Gelding who will be named very shortly and should be back in work soon thereafter.

In closing news, Great Leap Forward and Lovely Dark are still spelling while both El Retazo and Dana Prince are at the pre-trainers and will return to the stable in the coming week or so.

Good luck to all of our connections as our horses head back to the races in the coming week. And here’s hoping we can get some decent dry surfaces for them to race on.

Mini update

A couple of nice performances since we last did an update including a really nice performance by Great Leap Forward who won her maiden recently. She is one of four stable horses nominated for Murwillumbah next Monday as she looks to build on her momentum. Great Leap Forward is Race 3, Number 8, a 1200 metre Class 1 where she will once again be ridden by Lyle Finlay from gate 3.

Also racing at Murwillumbah will be Rob The Vault who ran a decent third in a trial earlier this week over 800 metres. She will be likely looking for further later on but fingers crossed for her racetrack debut. Rob The Vault is in Race 4 which is a 1000 metre Maiden. Tegan Harrison will claim 3kg's and she will jump from barrier 5.

Seriously Ready and El Retazo are also nominated for that meeting. Seriously Ready is coming off a solid first up 5th and looks to have improved since so we are hopeful for a solid showing. He is Number 5 in Race 1, a 1530 metre maiden and will be ridden by Tegan Harrison from barrier 1.

El Retazo showed us a new dimension last start when he was ridden quietly at the back of the field before unleashing a very quick finishing burst. Maybe this is the key for this fellow going forward. El Retazo is Number 9 in race 2, a 1200 metre Class 1 where he will be ridden by Terry Treichel from gate 5.

Sir Slipper returned to racing on Wednesday at Eagle Farm and ran a respectable 5th after not handling the slow track at all. He will sharpen up off that run and should be very competitive when he gets back to his own class in the near future.

Platinum Touch will be returning to the stable at the end of the month after a much improved preparation last time in work. Also coming into the stable are newcomers Twoeezy and Norse Horse. They will be added to the website in the very near future.

Good luck to all of the connections at Murwillumbah on Monday.

The Stable This July

Been a while since we did an update so, with apologies for the delay, here we go :

Great Leap Forward has been in work for some time now and is well advanced. She is back to where she was and will have a 700 metre jump out on Thursday 28th prior to making a return to racing in the coming weeks. Lucky Sound is developing well and will have a very short (300 metre) jump out on the same day, as will Floriade will contest a 700 metre jump out.

After winning his maiden last month, El Retazo will be aimed at suitable events in order to get through his grades. He has been nominated for a Class 2, 1100 metre event at Beaudesert this Saturday but there are lots of nominations for the race and, depending on acceptors, he might find himself near the cut off. A jockey will be named if he gains a start but failing that, we will find a suitable event for him in the very near future. Chicago Bound is also nominated at Beaudesert this Saturday in a 1200 metre Maiden. Lyle Finlay is booked to ride her.

Bon Marche is doing very well and will race next at either The Gold Coast or in Town on Saturday week.

Seriously Ready has been developing nicely this preparation and we are looking to get him back to the races ASAP to build on his much better performances when last in work. Sir Slipper is also back into his work and is coming along well enough that he will be either trialling or having a jump out within the next fortnight.

Gold Record has been sold to new interests and has left the stable. I’m A Smarty Pants has gone for a 6 week break and both Platinum Touch and Dana Prince have gone out for 8 week spells. Rob The Vault is back in work and there are a couple of new horses that will be added to the website in the coming days.

In closing, we welcome new team member Sandra J who will be looking after administration for the stables going forward. Welcome Sandra!

Plenty at the track and more on the way

Lots of horses getting to the track in the coming weeks including I'm A Smarty Pants who is in great nick and who will race this Sunday at the Sunshine Coast in a Class 3 1300 metre event. She is number 11 in race 8 and will be ridden by Jason Holder from gate 9. She should go well if she can get some cover and the 1300 metre journey looks ideal at this stage.

After a promising run previously, Gold Record was a touch disappointing last time out as there were no excuses. Everyone, horses included, have bad days so we will try to find a race for him in the next couple of weeks.

El Retazo has gone ahead since his solid maiden win at Beaudesert last week and will contest a 1200 metre Class B event at Warwick this Saturday. He is number 5 in race 3 and will be ridden by Matt Gray from gate 9. At the same meeting, Chicago Bound will make her racetrack debut in the first race which is an 800 metre maiden. Chicago Bound is number 11 and will be ridden from barrier 12 by Matt Gray.

Platinum Touch will be back at the races again soon after his brave run last weekend on the cushion track at the Sunshine Coast. He will be nominated for a 1666 Class 1 at Ipswich next Friday.
Bon Marche is dual nominated this weekend and a decision will be made shortly as to what she contests. She is currently 2EM for race 2 on Saturday at Eagle Farm (a 1200 metre Class 6) as well as Class 6 1300 metre race on Sunday at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday (Race 7, number 6). Watch this space to find out where she will make her stable debut.

Dana Prince returns to the track on Sunday at the Sunshine Coast in a 2 year old 1000 metre maiden. He is number 2 in race 4 and will be ridden by Jason Holder from barrier 3. Here's hoping he finds his feet in this race which is a huge drop in class from his first outing.

Lovely Dark is in the stable (will be added to the website shortly) and coming along nicely. Great Leap Forward is now well established in work and Seriously Ready is back in work and coming along very well. Also back in work are Sir Slipper and Lucky Sound whilst Floriade is adding condition well and coming along on schedule.

Good luck to the connections of those horses heading to the track this coming week - here’s hoping we can get more winners and continue the recent run of very solid performances.

Coming up this week

Bon Marche will trial tomorrow (Tuesday) at Doomben before making her way to the races in the coming weeks. Following his terrific 4 length win at Gatton on Saturday, Platinum Touch will probably be nominated for a 1400 metre Sunshine Coast Class 1 on Friday week before stepping out further in distance after that. He got a handicap rating of 57 off his maiden win so he is pretty well placed from a ballot perspective at the moment.
Gold Record ran very nicely at the Gold Coast on Saturday, running fourth but only being beaten out of second by a photo. He is getting more competitive as he gets out in distance so we will look for another maiden for him to contest in the coming weeks.
Dana Prince is nominated for a 2 year old 1000 metre race at the Sunshine Coast next Sunday and is also nominated for a listed 2 year old race the following day in town. Fingers crossed for reasonable track conditions.
El Retazo is dual nominated this coming weekend in 1200 metre maidens on Saturday at the Gold Coast and at Beaudesert. Ballots, fields, conditions and draws will determine which way he heads.
I'm A Smarty Pants is nominated for a 1350 metre Class 2 on Friday at Ipswich and also a 1400 metre Class 2 on Saturday at beaudesert. A decision will be made towards the middle of the week as to which way she goes.
Finally, Seriously Ready is back in work and will be joined later this week by Great Leap Forward, Sir Slipper and Lucky Sound.

June Update

Once again, there is plenty of activity at the stable with lots of horses getting to the trials and to the races. After a nice win second up over 1200 at Beaudesert last Saturday, I'm A Smarty Pants has pulled up really well and will head back to the races (much closer to town) within the next couple of weeks. Congratulations to Apprentice rider Tegan Harrison who rode her very well and, in fact, didn't go around a single runner to score!
Former Melbourne mare Bon Marche has settled in really well and ran a cracking trial last week when third in very fast time. She will trial again next Tuesday before heading to the races within a couple of weeks of then.
Gold Record is double-nominated this weekend; on Saturday in an 1800 metre Gold Coast maiden and on Sunday in a 1600 metre Sunshine Coast maiden. Good luck to his connection if he can gain a start.
Newcomer El Retazo is hoping to get a start in an 1100 metre maiden at Gatton this coming Saturday whilst Chicago Bound will soon be racetrack bound as she will be nominated for a 1000 metre maiden at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday week.
After running a brave race last start, Platinum Touch is double-nominated for this coming Saturday. Depending on draws, track conditions and ballots, he will either contest a 1400 maiden at the Gold Coast or at Gatton.
Dana Prince has been nominated for a 1200 metre 2 year old maiden at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday but track conditions will determine whether or not he starts at this stage.
Stable newcomer Lovely Darks is in early work while Seriously Ready has returned after his much improved preparation last time in work.
The Greenwood Lake Colt will be having a grass jump out on Thursday and will be named sometime next week ahead of contesting an official trial soon thereafter.
Finally, Floriade is building up in work whilst exciting youngster Great Leap Forward will be back in work shortly after making a full recovery from her recent setback. She doesn't appear to have lost too much condition and should be up and about again pretty quickly.

Mini Stable Update

Apologies for the lack of content team - busy times for the stable and limited time for this author . We will put a more comprehensive update together for you in the coming week or so but here are some headlines in the meantime:

* After his nice fourth at Ipswich over 1200 metres a week ago, Platinum Touch will now head to the Sunshine Coast next Sunday to compete in a 1300 metre maiden next Sunday Given he was first up for over 200 days last week, we expect to see him improve second up.

* Gold Record will contest the same event.

* Bon Marche, Dana Prince and Saveeda are nominated to trial on Tuesday week and will make their way to the races shortly thereafter.

* Chicago Bound may also trial on Tuesday week - still to be determined.

* As expected, I'm A Smarty Pants didn't handle the very heavy ground and the race was too short last Thursday. She has pulled up well and benefited from the run so we expect to see her improve in the next couple of starts. Fingers crossed for some dry tracks.

* Floriade has joined the stable and is now in work.

More soon........

Winter on the way

Isn’t it great to have the footy season back? Some in’s, some out’s and some new players makes for an interesting winter ahead. Well, it’s the same thing in the stable, where some new horses add an interesting dimension to the winter racing season ahead.

Heading up the new arrivals is the quality former Victorian mare, Bon Marche. She has had 23 starts there previously, most of them in the city, for a record of 4-3-2 and over $100,000 in stakes in distances ranging from 1300 to 1500 metres. She is a strong type who should be at the races in about 4 weeks or so depending on circumstances. Other new horses entering include Rob The Vault and Gold Record (by Bradbury’s Luck from Kylie Gold); the latter is expected to trial in the coming week or so prior to heading back to the racetrack shortly.

Great Leap Forward is bursting for a race start. She was scratched last week due to a combination of circumstances (mostly gate + bad track) and now she needs to race to maintain and improve her condition. She will not be starting on a bog anywhere but we need to get her to the races soon – hopefully on Saturday.

Rockwest is nominated for an Ipswich 1666 metre Class 2 on May 2nd after running a good race last week. All of Saveeda, Platinum Touch, I’m A Smarty Pants and Gold Record were due to trial last Tuesday at Deagon but they were cancelled. They will probably get cancelled again today so as soon as possible these 4 will be heading to a trial and shortly thereafter to the races.

I’m A Smarty Pants has come back in excellent shape and continues to work very well. We are hopeful that she will progress through her grades this preparation. The Not A Single Doubt Colt has been in for experience and will likely go back to the paddock in the next week or so, whilst the Greenwood Lake colt is coming along nicely and will trial this preparation after building up his fitness during this campaign.

That’s it for now but, as always, if you have any specific questions please call Tony directly on 0405 058499.
