Third Aussie Winner for Charge Forward

Charge Forward has been in the news this week with winners at Sandown on Wednesday in Headway and in Japan with Vilmart, the young Arrowfield Stud based sire back in the frame again at Wyong on Thursday with his third Australian winner Classic Rush.
Trained by Marc Conners Classic Rush charted a wide course on the heavy nine surface and stayed out of trouble in the lead before kicking strongly to the line to win the 1000 metre maiden on debut.
A winner at her only previous barrier trial, Classic Rush was well supported in scoring a popular win.
Classic Rush cost $30,000 from the draft of BC3Australia at the 2008 MM Horses in Training Sale last October.
Classic Rush is the first foal of former good Danewin racemare Classy Dane, a stakes-winner of four races including the Group Three STC Research Stakes.
Interestingly all three of Charge Forward’s Australian winners to date are from Danzig line mares with Classic Rush joining Carlton Forward (x Carlton Ace, by Bianconi (USA) and Headway (x Chatelaine, by Flying Spur).
A Group One winning sprinter by Red Ransom (USA) from the Bletchingly mare Sydney’s Dream, Charge Forward is completely free of Northern Dancer blood and it has long been hoped he would prove a good foil for the plethora of Danzig line mares and although it’s early days, that is certainly looking the case.
